We will post our 2024 Summer Camp Schedule on February 1st
Registration for 2024 summer Art Camps Will Open On February 15th at 10am.

We LOVE when the season wheel comes around to Summer! Wild Roots offers a variety of summer camps aimed at getting kids outdoors and exploring their wild creativity. In these multi-day camps we will enjoy nature play, take in art lessons & soulful themes (like seasonal alignment, creativity, inclusivity, sustainability, wilderness survival skills, mindfulness & empowerment topics) and craft artworks from natural and recycled materials.

We love to connect our artworks and lessons to the current seasons, solar & moon cycles or incorporate wild finds we might collect from the environment we live in. In doing this we can often find gratitude, new awareness and peace in syncing into our own natural rhythm and remembering that we too, are a part of nature.

Here are some sweet moments past Summer Art Camps…

Summer Camp Information

Location information

Camps will be held at the Fort Collins Art Lab and Wild Roots Studio.

Art Lab is an experimental creative space in the heart of Old Town Fort Collins. This amazing community-supported venue gifts our young artists a space to share their works of art in community art shows. Learn more about the Art Lab here.

Wild Roots Studio is located in NW Fort Collins. This backyard studio space has both an indoor and outdoor classroom. It allows for us to create nature under the beautiful Colorado sun and is surrounded by vegetable and herb gardens from which we can gather ingredients for some of our art projects and wild snacks.

In both spaces often take nature walks to visit nearby creeks, parks, natural areas, river bank, Old Town fountains or open spaces.

Thank you for understanding. Of course, we always take in mind special circumstances.

What to Wear:

CLOTHES AND GEAR: We will be doing some painting & nature play, so best to wear something you don’t mind your children to get messy. We do provide paint shirts and aprons but they don’t always cover everything. Its nice to pack an extra change of clothes in case we get wet or muddy during nature walks. We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes or sport sandals (no flip flops). For camps located at the Art Lab, we often eat lunch in the Old Town Square where some kids like to bring swimsuits & a towel for some fountain playtime.

What to bring to camp

SOLO TIME BOOKS OR PROJECTS: Each day we have take few moments of quiet time. We call these Solo Time. They offer us a soulful moment to relax and center ourselves in the midst of our busy summer days. During Solo Time we ask children to find something to do quietly by themselves while we play peaceful music. This maybe a book, drawing, journal, finishing a project we are working on, lego project, laying down to rest, painting, etc. Your child is welcome to bring a book or small project from home to enjoy during Solo Time. (No screens please.)

INSPIRATION FROM NATURE: Nature items found between now and camp are awesome great for incorporating into their art. Feel free to collect twigs, sticks, pine cones, stones, seeds and other nature bits and bring them into camp. There is something great about using nature items that are hand-picked and collected by the child. The art then has a story beyond our camp. No worries, if you don't bring nature items to camp...that is fine too! We always have plenty of natural items to share and will likely do some nature walks to find more.

FOOD & DRINK: Please send them with a water bottle, lunch and 2 snacks (one for morning and one for afternoon). Due to Covid protocols we will not be providing snacks this summer.

SUNSCREEN & BUG REPELLENT: Please pack sunscreen for your child with your child's name on it. If the day starts off sunny, please bring them with sunscreen already applied. Sunhats or layers of light clothes are great options too. Feel free to pack some mosquito repellent if you would like as it can get buggy in the shade during nature walks or while painting outdoors.

Your child is unique!

It is our wish that each child feels like they may come to Wild Roots camps as themselves. Whether they are shy, wild, needing a bit of warm up time, active, in need of some help to make friends…whatever they might need….it is our hope that each child feels comfortable, cared for and allowed to explore their unique creativity during their time with us. We are always open to modifying our schedule, projects and approach to assure children are having fun and feeling comfortable. We hope that their time spend with us is remembered as enjoyable, a place where they create new friendships, make some special works of art and connect to the wonder of mother nature.
