Art Instructor & Counselor for Summer Camps

Wild Roots Studio is seeking a passionate and creative Part-Time Nature Art Teacher for the 2025 summer camp season. We offer nature-based art, herbology, and primitive skills camps for children ages 5-14, and we're looking for energetic individuals to join our team!

Position Overview:

Hours: Flexible (8-25 hours per week, depending on camp schedules)

Dates: Early June to mid-August, with potential for year-round work (after-school programs, school breaks, and weekend workshops)

Compensation: $17-20 per hour (DOE)

This is an exciting opportunity to inspire young artists through nature-based art workshops and to help children connect with the natural world through creative expression.

Responsibilities:

  • Co-teach and lead nature-inspired art classes for small groups of children.

  • Support students in completing daily art projects (painting, drawing, mixed media, etc.)

  • Manage student arrival, departure, and communication with parents.

  • Foster a safe, fun, and supportive camp environment, ensuring emotional and physical well-being of students

  • Set up, clean up, and prep art materials for each class.

  • Collaborate with co-teachers on lesson planning, project execution, and camp activities

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Experience working with children, especially in a creative or camp setting.

  • Familiarity with various art mediums (painting, drawing, mixed media).

  • Enjoyment of working with kids and the ability to create a positive, engaging atmosphere.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a busy, lively environment.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs

A plus!

  • Experience teaching art to children, or background in art education, environmental education, gardening, or herbology.

  • Study or degree in art, ecology, environmental education, herbology, sustainability, wilderness education, early childhood education or mindfulness/child psychology.

  • Passion for blending art, nature, and education in an outdoor camp setting

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary - with opportunity to stay on to support school and art workshop programs during the school year.
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
